Results Not Typical

Last Sunday I saw a full-page advertisement in the Dallas Morning news. The ad was on behalf of a hypnotherapy clinic promoting hypnosis as a remedy for overeating and obesity. They showed before and after photographs - demonstrating significant weight reductions. Very impressive! However, in tiny print at the bottom of the page it said: "The results depicted are not typical". So why are they showing results that are not typical? Obviously, the typical results are not very good. Next on TV I see ads for "Slim-Quick" - also featuring before and after pictures demonstrating mahor weight loss. The people in the photos always look slender, toned as well as gorgeous/handsome. Once again at the bottom of the screen in the smallest print possible it says "Results not typical; your results may vary; also must follow the exerciser plan accompanying the product'. So these commercials are misleading and deceptive. Such is the way of Madison Avenue.
